Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather this week. It is, hands down, one of the best books that I have ever read.
Willa Cather writes places and people well. It only takes a few sentences to get a vivid picture of one of her characters in my mind.
This book takes place on the frontier of New Mexico, starting in 1851. It is a wild, open, versatile landscape full of physical and spiritual challenges. The story of her heroes is fascinating both from a human and historical perspective.
I don't think that I could possibly write something that conveys just how good this book is. You will have to read it to find out. It is worth every minute of your time!
Knitting has been a little slow but I'm making good headway on a simple hat for my Dominican friend. He's up north so I have a little cushion time in getting it to him!
